Det har gått en livlig diskussion i ett par tre dagar nu om huruvida VLC kommer att finnas kvar eller inte i App Store. Det mesta talar för att Apple inom kort tar bort medispelaren från App Store i förmån för något annat.

VLC går emot Apples stadgar när det gäller kodning. På Macstories och iClarified tar man upp problemet där det visar sig att VLC även inte når måttet för iTunes och Apples regler att finnas i App Store, då är det dock en intressant fråga varför den redan har hamnar där. Citerat från Macstories:

”In any case, while the rules for distribution of open-source or ”free” (as in speech) software are extremely relaxed, they do exist and have to be abode by. VLC and open-source software in general would not have reached their current quality and success if it had not been for their license. Therefore, blatant license violation cannot be tolerated at any rate. Concerned users are advised to look for application on more open mobile platforms for the time being.”

VLC finns fortfarande i App Store, men enligt många alltså endast en kort tid framöver.
